In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for your membership in our electric cooperative. Because of you, we can make a difference in the communities where we live.
First, I would like to thank you for a second year of record-breaking voting in our annual elections. Our board of directors voted to match $1 to represent each vote with a contribution to be divided between three local food pantries. Thank you for taking the time to vote in our board elections and for your continued support of our co-op.
Secondly, I would like to thank you for enabling us to make an impact in our community. While our priority is to provide safe, reliable and affordable energy, we value our role in making our community a better place. As you will see in the following pages, we were able to contribute to several charities just last month through our annual charity golf tournament. We can also make an economic difference in our community by supporting local businesses with our Co-op Connections program.
Lastly, I am thankful for our co-op board members. Dixie Electric is locally governed by members of our community who take time to attend important training sessions, participate in planning meetings and keep abreast of local needs, such as high-speed internet in rural areas. Their guidance gives us a first-hand perspective on community priorities, allowing us to make a better impact for our members.
Thanksgiving is an excellent time of the year for reflection and giving thanks. Our cooperative has the power to empower the communities we serve – and that is something in which to be truly thankful. Happy Thanksgiving from our co-op family to yours.
