Electrical Safety Demonstrations
Electricity is something we all depend on, but it also deserves our respect.
Our interactive electrical safety demonstration teaches students how electricity works, the dangers of power lines, and what to do if they encounter hazardous situations. Using engaging demonstrations and real-world examples, students learn important lessons they can take home and remember for years to come.
Topics may include:
- Downed power line safety
- Outdoor electrical hazards
- Kite, drone and balloon safety around power lines
- Electrical safety during storms
- How electricity travels
- When to call 811 before digging

Internet Safety Presentations: Webby the Internet Safety Cat
Today’s students are growing up in a connected world. As your local fiber internet provider, DE Fastlink is committed to helping young people become safe and responsible digital citizens.
Our Webby the Internet Safety Cat presentations help students understand:

Cooperative Youth Leadership Program
Each year, Dixie Electric sponsors outstanding local high school students for our Cooperative Youth Leadership Program.
Delegates develop leadership skills, learn about government and the cooperative business model, and build friendships with students from across Mississippi through workshops and educational experiences.
Classroom & Community Partnerships
Throughout the year, Dixie Electric employees proudly:
- Participate in Touch-a-Truck events
- Read to lower elementary and pre-k classrooms
- Bucket truck presentations with a lineman
- Conduct STEM activities in the classroom
- Visit classrooms and career days
- Sponsor school activities and athletic programs
- Partner with teachers on educational opportunities and materials through our Power Pals Program
- Support local school initiatives and community events
