You’ve heard me mention before that Dixie Electric is different because we are a cooperative. We are also one of the few businesses that encourage our members to use less of our product. As you may know, we provide several tools to help our members take charge of their energy use and save on their monthly electric bills.

SmartHub App

Over half of our members are now actively using our free Smartshop app. Although this app is a convenient way to pay your bill or report a power outage, it also provides our members with daily usage data that allows the user to monitor their daily electric use. Members can compare their monthly energy use to the previous year, monitor their daily energy use, and track their success in making daily changes to their routine to lower their energy consumption.

Home Energy Calculators

Have you ever wondered where your energy dollars are going? Typically, the cost to heat and cool your home accounts for the largest portion of your bill. Weather is by far the most significant of these factors. The cost also varies depending on your behavior, the heating and cooling systems, and the appliances within your home. On our website, we offer five energy calculators to personalize the analysis of your energy consumption and help you learn how your home uses energy. Another energy-saving tool on our website is our energy efficiency brochures, including Touchstone Energy’s 101 Easy Ways to Save Energy and Money. In this online brochure, you will find 101 easy and cost-effective tips to help you save energy and, in turn, save money each month on your electric bill. These tips include ways to save through lighting, electronics, the kitchen, water heating, laundry, and every other aspect of your home. Everything you do – from flipping a switch to upgrading your lighting – can add up to big savings. Doing a little can save a lot!
