Dixie Electric is continuously looking for ways to strengthen the community in which we serve. This Christmas season, Dixie Electric coordinated several fundraisers to give back to those in need within our community.
In November, employees of Dixie Electric began selling 12 Days Of Christmas tickets. At $25 per ticket, individuals were placed in a drawing that began on Dec. 3, and continued each weekday through Dec.18. A different prize winner was drawn each day, with the winning ticket being placed back in the drawing for the next day, allowing the opportunity to win multiple days. The success of this fundraiser allowed Dixie Electric to donate $1,500 to three separate local food pantries; The Christian Food Mission in Laurel, The Samaritan's Closet and Pantry in Waynesboro, and The Petal Children's Task Force in Petal.
In late November, Dixie Electric also held a Photo with Santa fundraiser at all three branch locations. Children, as well as pets, flocked to our offices dressed in their best holiday attire to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what they would like for Christmas. Photos were offered to each child, with the proceeds benefiting Batson Children's Hospital. On December 18, Community Relations Coordinator Pollyanna Magee delivered a $1,500 check to Batson Children's Hospital in Jackson, MS, bringing hope to each family served by this facility.
On December 11, Dixie Electric employees volunteered their time to ring the Salvation Army bell at both entrances of Walmart in Laurel. Employees spread Christmas cheer as well as encourage those who passed by to donate to the Salvation Army. Donations that day totaled $811.07 during the hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
