Read Across America Day

Books and stories provide points of access for understanding other people's lives, walking in someone else's shoes—or trying on a different hat! The National Education Association’s Read Across America annually brings the joys of reading to students of all ages.

Dixie Electric participated in the National Read Across America Day on Wednesday, March 2, reading the book, Lineman, the Unsung Hero to two local daycares. This day was established by the NEA in 1998, in conjunction with the birthday of Dr. Seuss, to help get kids excited about reading.

Adorn Presley read to the 4-k class at The Kids Company in Laurel, and Shelby Ivey read to the 4-k class at First Baptist Early Learning in Waynesboro. In addition to reading to the children, both servicemen displayed the everyday tools they use, and, the kids’ favorite part, how high the extend-stick can go.
