Commitment to Community
Charity Golf Tournament
Dixie Electric Power Association hosted its annual charity golf tournament on Thursday, September 30, raising $11,168. Proceeds from the four-man scramble tournament benefited the American Cancer Society and local secret meal programs for kids in Jones, Wayne and Forrest county.
As inclement weather set in, 33 four-man teams braved the rain and teed off at the Laurel Country Club for Dixie Electric’s 12th annual charity golf tournament.
“Despite the weather, the tournament was a fantastic success,” said Community Relations Coordinator Pollyanna Magee. “We had two full flights, and everyone managed to have a great time while supporting their community.
Winners for the morning flight were Community Bank’s team in first place; Gatlin’s Building Supply team in second place; and R.J. Construction’s team in third.
Afternoon flight winners were Pine Belt Air Quality’s team in first; Southern Tire Mart’s team in second; and Herrington’s team in third.
“We appreciate each individual who participated in the tournament, and our Dixie Electric employees who worked hard to make it happen,” Magee added. “Our annual charity golf tournament is a great way for Dixie Electric to support our community and live out our seventh cooperative principle of Concern for Community.”
Hole-in-one prizes were provided by Kim’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep Toyota. Closest-to-the-hole prizes were provided by the Laurel Country Club. The flight winners received gifts provided by Dixie Electric. Lunch was donated by Bush Construction and B-Line
