It is always a pleasure to share good news, and here is great news for the members of Dixie Electric.
“Over the next few months, we will roll out several new features that will help us communicate with our members better and provide new billing and payment options,” General Manager Randy Smith said.
The biggest change is coming this month to mailboxes of Dixie Electric members.
“The billing statements have a new look and a new size. The letter size statement provides more detailed information for members,” Consumer Accounts Clerk Ann Polen said.
The additional space includes a chart of the member’s energy use from the past year, lists payments made to the account in the last month and provides a place for updated phone numbers. A return envelope will be included with the new statement.
“Our website underwent a facelift. You’ll notice new colors, a new menu system for finding information on the site and the Home Energy Suite,” Communication Manager Lydia Walters said.
The Home Energy Suite was added to dixieepa.com in January 2011 and will help members calculate the benefits of improving a home’s energy efficiency. It also has an energy library that provides information and buying tips for most appliances, electronics and home construction products. If a member is trying to decide whether or not to buy a new appliance, such as a refrigerator, use the appliance calculator and compare an old refrigerator to a new one.
“In the coming months, we will be adding payment options. Many of you have requested to pay your power bill with a debit or credit card,” Administration and Finance Manager Aaron Zumwalt said. “We are in the process of implementing these options, and hopefully, we will be accepting credit and debit card payments within the next two months.
“Soon after we begin accepting credit and debit card payments, we will go live with a pay online system. You will have the benefit of paying your bill at any location with internet access, anytime of the day through our website.”
“In the next few pages of Today in Mississippi, you will see examples of the new billing statement and the new website,” Walters said.
